If you need to return or exchange your authentic Birkenstock footwear, our policy is designed with your comfort in mind—just like our Adjustable Shoes, Sandals, and Clogs & Mules collections.
Our Return Policy
We accept returns within 15 days of delivery for most unworn, undamaged Birkenstock products with original packaging. Please note:
- All items must be in resalable condition with original tags attached
- Footwear must show no signs of wear (indoor try-on only)
- Original proof of purchase is required
Non-Returnable Items: For hygiene reasons, we cannot accept returns on Flip Flops and Dress Sandals unless they are defective or incorrect items shipped by us.
Easy Return Process
Follow these simple steps to return your Birkenstocks:
- Initiate Your Return: Email our customer service team at [email protected] with your return request using the template below
- Wait for Approval: Our Detroit team will respond within 1 business day with return authorization and instructions
- Package Your Items: Securely pack your unworn Birkenstocks in the original box with all packaging materials
- Ship Your Return: Send the package to our Detroit facility using a trackable shipping method
- Receive Confirmation: We’ll email you when we process your return
Exchange Process
To exchange your Birkenstocks for a different size or style (Boots, Loafers & Slip-Ons, etc.):
- Follow the same steps as the return process
- Clearly state in your email that you’re requesting an exchange and specify your desired replacement item
- We’ll process your exchange once we receive the original item
Note: Exchanges are subject to availability. If your requested item is out of stock, we’ll issue a refund or store credit.
Return Shipping
Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error (wrong item shipped or defective product). We recommend using a trackable shipping service as we cannot be responsible for lost return packages.
Refund Information
Once we receive and inspect your return:
- Processing Time: 3-5 business days
- Refund Method: Original payment method (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, PayPal)
- Timeline: 5-10 business days for the refund to appear in your account, depending on your financial institution
For exchanges, we’ll ship your new items via your original shipping method (Standard or Free Shipping) once we process the return.
